Textile Paintings

Handmade Felt and Textiles made in Dorset by Ann Baseden

Pictures made using wet and dry felting techniques with additional detail in thread.  As with all impressionistic art, these pictures reveal different details depending upon the light in which they are viewed and also the distance and angle from which they are viewed.  In all cases the palette of colours is created by blending various differently coloured fibres, usually merino sheep’s wool.

This section also includes a pair of pictures (the herons) which are entirely thread painted using  single strands of fine thread to replicate the brush strokes in original paintings.
